The rule stack held discipline.
The quarter-stake totals rule fired twice during the window: Aug 11 NYL-IND UNDER (loss, minus 0.25u), Aug 12 MIN-POR UNDER (win, plus 0.23u), Aug 16 CHI-SEA OVER (win, plus 0.23u). That is technically three quarter-stake totals HIGH bets — 2-1 record, plus 0.21u net. Not a large enough sample to draw a conclusion about the rule's efficacy on winners vs losers, but it correctly protected the Aug 11 loss down to 0.25u instead of the pre-rule 0.5u.
The 2-HIGH-late-quarter agent PASS rule (Issue 61) did not fire during the window. No pick had the exact 2-HIGH-Q3+Q4 conflict pattern.
The model-versus-agent 3-HIGH conflict rule may have fired once or twice but I did not track it manually across the stretch. That is a gap in the editorial layer's audit — with 14 days of picks, some of them should have hit the conflict trigger. Without daily editorial write-ups, the rule's firing goes undocumented. That is a process problem for the next silence stretch to solve.
Cumulative check per grader:
Spread STRONG LEAN: 56-46-1 (54.9 percent, plus 4.77 percent ROI). Up from plus 3.92 percent two weeks ago. The tier continues to hold its edge across the extended sample.
Spread MODEST LEAN: 24-33 (42.1 percent, minus 19.62 percent ROI). Unchanged. Coin flip tier drags on vig.
Total STRONG LEAN: 53-72 (42.4 percent, minus 19.05 percent ROI). Actually improved slightly from minus 19.94 percent — a couple total STRONG UNDERs hit in the recent stretch. Still well below the minus 15 percent threshold where the quarter-stake rule could be revisited.
Total MODEST LEAN: 29-28 (50.9 percent, minus 2.87 percent ROI). Best MODEST tier performance.
The Tempo. Toronto is 14-17 on a six-game losing streak. All six losses came shorthanded (Sykes still Out). Three of the six losses were framework wins because Toronto covered as double-digit underdogs while losing outright — that saved the bankroll money but is not what any Tempo fan wanted to see. Jordan has the full Tempo Report separately. Tonight Toronto hosts Portland — the exact team that started the losing streak on August 6 — in what is functionally a season-defining game.
Tonight's slate (Friday August 21). Three games on the board, zero HIGH picks. Framework rest.
The three games are: Golden State at Chicago, Minnesota at Washington, and Portland at Toronto. None have edge above the HIGH threshold in the picks file. The POR-TOR game has a STRONG LEAN UNDER on the game card side (edge minus 20 on the total) but did not elevate to picks-file HIGH tier, and the totals STRONG tier remains PASS by default per current framework rules.
